A Scenic Village

Kleinburg is a picturesque, pedestrian friendly village, where you’ll find a variety of shops, boutiques, intimate spaces and world class dining.

The area offers great natural beauty and The Kortright Centre offers a stunning escape for both children and adults.

The Village of Klineberg, named after its original Pennsylvania German settler John Nicholas Kline Sr (1825-1854), appeared on maps of Vaughan Township as early as 1878. When the village grew into a town, the spelling was changed to Kleinburg, which means “small town” in German.

The fact that Kleinburg was nestled between two branches of the Humber River made it an ideal location for the wheat and flour mills that flourished.

The 1950s saw the development of the first subdivision and expansion continued at a steady pace after that. Even though the town is no longer a small farming community, residents still celebrate their rural heritage at the annual Binder Twine Festival on their main street, which attracts several thousand people, on the first Saturday after Labour Day.

Lifestyle

The peaceful and beautiful village offers shopping and dining along their main street where more than 75 businesses operate out of beautiful historic homes. The serene shopping experience includes design, home décor, gift shops, galleries, boutiques, cafés and fine dining establishments.

Festivals and celebrations have the town bustling with food, entertainment, craft exhibitors and more. At the Binder Twine Festival, you have the option of paying an admission fee or choose to immerse yourself in the experience, dress up in a pioneer costume and get in free!

Types of Homes

Most people should be able to find a home style that’s right for them in Kleinburg. You can find estate homes with a river view, ranch style bungalows, split levels and modern homes with attached garages in newer subdivisions.
