“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
~Winston Churchill
As a father and active member of his community, Dave has always put high-priority on participating in and donating to charities in his neighbourhood. Fighting for the health and well-being of children is one of the most powerful ways to improve society; and even in times of sickness, kids deserve to be kids.
That’s why Team Elfassy has partnered with the Thornhill Woods Haunted House in support of Sick Kids, Skate For Sarah, Movember and created the Team Elfassy Food Drive in partnership with the Vaughan Food Bank. We have collected thousands of dollars in donations, toys, food and gifts for families and children in our community. Dave received the 2023 Vaughan Civic Hero Award for Ward 4 due to the community efforts of him and his team.
As we continue to expand our charitable endeavours, we hope you’ll join us!
Every December we hold our Team Elfassy Food & Toy Drive, in support of the Vaughan Food Bank. Our goal is to ensure every child and family in our community has a bright holiday season, and even brighter future.
The Food & Toy Drive originally began as a toy drive for the CHUM City Christmas Wish in 2015. The following year we hosted a Toy Drive that resulted in a record setting toy donation to the Sick Kids Foundation.
Starting in 2017 we partnered with the Vaughan Food Bank due to it’s local focus.
Anyone who wishes to donate can simply get in touch – we’ll pickup the donation and personally deliver it to the Food Bank.
Since October 2004, Chris Ainsworth & his family have been transforming the outside of their home into a creepy Haunted House. Their goal is to raise funds for the Mackenzie Health Foundation.
The front yard becomes an elaborate cemetery filled with very detailed tombstones, monsters, zombies, witches, ghosts and pumpkins.
The entire yard is surrounded by wrought iron fencing with custom made gargoyle pillars, spooky ambient lighting and spine chilling surround sound music. Many of our props are either electric or pneumatic controlled.
This is a highlight each year in the Thornhill community. We’re proud to participate in and sponsor this incredible event!
The men’s health crisis calls for big minds, and big solutions. But there’s a smaller, hairier solution to the men’s health crisis. A solution you can Grow yourself. It’s sitting under your nose.
Grow a Mo with us this Movember – join us in the fight to stop men dying too young.
We were a gold sponsor for the JCC Kids Triathlon. This fun-filled day of friendly competition doubles as a fundraiser; kids participating in the triathlon are encouraged to raise money to support their peers with special needs.
All proceeds went directly to the JCC’s Children and Youth Inclusion Programs to provide adapted exercise, 1-on-1 support, and social and educational programs.
The “Skate for Sarah” Charity Ice Hockey Tournament began in 2015, in honor of Sarah Watkin. Sarah passed away on November 2nd, 2014, after bravely battling a rare and extremely aggressive form of blood cancer. She was seven years old.
We participated in 2019, the final year for this event. Thanks to the support of our family and friends/clients, we dramatically exceeded our fundraising goal.
